Maryland Blue Crabs
I have been too busy to crochet of late. Work is busy, evenings are busy but I'm sure in the next couple weeks I'll start on a new project.
In the meantime, today we are having a Maryland Blue Crab feast in honor of the 4th of July. I grew up in Maryland and I must say that I think Maryland Blue Crabs are the most perfect food in the world. Those who have never enjoyed them are truly missing out.
In our 30's, we would have a crab feast every year on the 4th of July. Our house in Maryland sat on a lake that did fireworks on the 4th. So we'd have people over, enjoy their company and great food and then watch the fireworks once it got dark.
When we moved to California 13 years ago, we stopped that tradition. A couple years ago we discovered a company that shipped blue crabs anywhere. We ordered some for our older son's 21st birthday (because they are his favorite food too) and they were SO GOOD! Since then, we've ordered from the same company (www.Marylandbluecrabexpress.com) and they are always great.
SO --- this year, we decided to resume our tradition. A bushel of crabs arrived yesterday and we are all set to go! We have burgers and hot dogs for those California friends who might not be so adventurous; corn on the cob, bakes beans (cooked in a bake bean pot my mom has had for probably 50 years), pasta salads and of course, the watermelon margaritas I mentioned in the previous blog.
I'll take some pictures to share in a future entry. But for now --- EVERYONE HAVE A SAFE, FUN FILLED 4th OF JULY WEEKEND!!

I did it! Well, almost...
Yippee, hurray! I have finished (almost) my latest crochet project - a market bag. Made of 100% cotton yarn, I made this fun bag to take to the Farmer's Market or to the beach or anywhere you please.
I LOVE IT! I was telling my mom about it and I'm going to send it to her as a special little gift. I love my mom so much and just want to send her a little something for her to enjoy and use. She had one that was made years ago and she thinks it finally got so old and moth eaten that she threw it away. Perfect timing Mom!
The handles are made but not yet attached - should be another day or so and then it will be winging it's way East to my mom.

Grease Sing-A-Long
My friends and I went off to the Hollywood Bowl last night to attend the Grease Sing-A-Long. We've gone to the Sound of Music Sing-A-Long for years but this was the first time ever for Grease and boy, it did not disappoint!
The weather was perfect - mid 70's while the sun was up, and then mid 60's when the sun went down and a full moon. The movie came on and we sang and danced in our seats like teenagers.
The crowd was amazing (including the guy in front of us to acted the part of Cha Cha DeGregorio waving the flag to start the race on Thunder Road (remember that scene??). OMG - it was so funny! We had a group of Sing-A-Long "virgins" right behind us. There were 5 of them and they had the best time too. But who wouldn't!?!? We shared our adult beverages with everyone around us and it was such fun!
So my words to all - if you have a chance to go see this movie as a sing-a-long, you just have to do it!
GREASE IS THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's coming along nicely...
My mystery crochet item is coming along nicely. I can't believe how simple it is but don't want to reveal too much until I'm finished. So keep checking in to see what the final product turns out to be!!!
